Halloween safety reminders for the whole family

Don't you just love Halloween? There's nothing like carving pumpkins, roasting seeds, dressing up in costumes and getting a little silly! It's so much fun to watch the kids delight in a sugar rush of ghoulish proportions... and of course, so nice to finally get out and say hello to the neighbours that we don't often get a chance to connect with throughout the year.

Halloween has become an event that lasts an entire week in most GTA, York and Peel Region communities; and while trick-or-treating might be limited to just one night, you can expect to see plenty of spooky things taking place throughout the next few days!

If you plan on being out with the kids on Thursday evening, remember to be safe. Some reminders:

- Review pedestrian safety. Stay on sidewalks and cross at appropriate crosswalks or intersections. Wear reflective clothing and choose face paint instead of  masks that interfere with vision. Bring a flashlight, and have a route planned ahead of time. Have a back-up plan incase anybody gets separated.

- Review door-knocking.  Only go to homes that have a light on, and remind your kids to graciously accept treats at the door, rather than stepping inside any home.

- Review candy safety. No eating anything until an adult has had the chance to inspect it. Never eat anything that is opened or has damaged packaging.

We know, some of these things seem a little obvious... but you can never be too safe. Speaking of which, now would be a good time to remind all the adult party-goers out there to also be responsible this week. If you plan on drinking, please don't drive... take a taxi, have a designated driver, or use public transportation instead.

Looking for information on what's going on in Caledon? Please be in touch. We're always on top of things happening in our community, and are happy to share or provide suggestions.

Whatever festivities you've got planned for the upcoming week, we hope you have a hauntingly good time!

Happy Halloween!

Caledon in the fall: So many changes, so much to be thankful for

Can you believe that we're almost halfway through October? Where has the year gone? The days are getting shorter and pretty soon the harsher temperatures will be setting in.

Heading into the holiday long weekend and the start of the busiest time of year for just about everyone, we hope that you get a chance to relax and take in some of the beautiful fall colours.

So far it has been an active season for The Stuart Sinclair Team. In addition to several great sales we've also got a few new properties that have hit the market, many of which are set amidst the beautiful autumn backdrop of rural Caledon.

This particular property at 17810 Centreville Creek Road is one such example. Sitting on 10 sprawling acres of land amidst mature trees, rock gardens, nature trails and even a pond, this lovely 3-bedroom home is the ideal country home for any family. With many interior features that are unique and timeless, this home is truly a picture of fall perfection. To learn more about this home on Centreville Creek Road, click here.

Fall is traditionally a season of changes. For a number of reasons, many people make changes in the autumn months that result in properties being bought and sold. We don't know what changes, if any, are in store for you and your family, but if they include anything related to homeownership, we hope you'll give us a call. We're always happy to answer any questions you may have about the market or discuss your current possibilities.

We want to send a sincere and resounding THANK YOU to all of our clients, colleagues, family and friends who continue to support us at the Stuart Sinclair Team. We hope that your Thanksgiving is filled with happiness, relaxation, gratitude and generous giving to those who need it most.

All the best for a blessed holiday!

Timeless design amidst a picturesque backdrop!

What does it mean to be timeless? When it comes to a home, timeless design means that it is durable. It lasts through decades, sometimes hundreds of years even, easily being brought up to date with simple changes in accessories or accents.

A home that features visually intriguing finishes that create movement such as stone and marble can add a timeless element to the design. Hardwood floors, crown mouldings and quality baseboard and window trim can also help, as they tend to withstand the test of time, adding character and charm to a property regardless of other updates or renovations that may take place over the years.

This property we are featuring at 3234 Old School Road in Caledon is the perfect example of a home that is timeless for many reasons. It is currently in move-in condition, yet could still easily be restored to include a more modern touch, while maintaining all unique charm and function for any family.

Featuring hardwood floors, crown mouldings, a stone fireplace, a spacious eat-in kitchen, plus a cozy great room with a walk-out to a large patio, this home has many inspiring qualities. Further, there is a finished lower level with separate entrance that could be used for an in-law or nanny suite, as well as a built-in two car garage, plus a partially heated workshop perfect for any handyman, tradesperson, or artist.
